Starting YouTube…

Starting YouTube…

I finally did it guys! This is the post I never thought I would write. I never thought I would find the courage to do it. But I can finally say I’m starting YouTube, or should I say, I already have started YouTube, and it feels great to be able to say that!

You might remember from previous posts me waffling on about wanting to give YouTube a go, but always putting it off because I didn’t feel ready, didn’t think I had the right equipment, worried about what content I could actually come up with, yada yada yada.

To be honest they were all just pretty poor excuses, and reasons I had had come up with to justify not starting YouTube.

I think it all came down to a huge lack of confidence in myself, and as you’ll see at the end of this post if you watch my first video, I have a lot to learn with being in front of the camera. (I mean I talk about the weather for chrissake).

But it’s all a big learning curve, and I’m hoping that my confidence will only grow as I get more used to talking to camera.

I’ve watched YouTube videos since 2010, and I guess over the past year I felt like starting my own channel would seem like the next logical extension of the blog. And as much as I hate to admit it,  feel like these days if you’re aren’t present on the main channels of social media you’re somewhat missing out.

Although at the same time, I would have been more than happy to continue with the blog as it was. Starting Youtube is, more than anything else, a chance for me to prove to myself that I am capable of doing it.

I’m not going to pay much attention to numbers, in terms of views and subscribers (although I must admit I’ve already had a bit of a moan about the slow growth on my channel!). But I’ve been told it does take time, and I just need to be patient.

My first video was a bit of an awkward one; with my focussing on the snow and snippets of family life. I was so bloody nervous.

Second video was mostly about product reviews from Coconut Lane and a cleanser from Aldi which is a dupe for Liz Earle.

And my third video was a vlog of the Glamour Beauty Festival which I absolutely loved going to, and definitely had the most fun editing the video.

I’m going to attempt to film the ‘Get to know me tag’ this week, and will just stick to the basic 20 questions or so that most YouTubers do when they film these about me videos. Hopefully it will be uploaded next week.

And from then on there’s no schedule as such, I haven’t really worked out what the channel is going to focus on mostly – it’s going to be a bit of a mish-mash with vlogs from events, and the odd product review/sit-down chat.

So then……If you like the blog and enjoy what I write then pleeeeease go and check out my channel and subscribe to show your support! It would honestly mean the world to me.

Thanks so much for popping on here as always, and I hope you can come along for the ride on this next exciting chapter of mine!

Thanks guys. Be back soon. Oh and here’s that cringe-worthy first video…

I enjoyed your first vlog and I look forward to seeing your Get to Know Me Tag video (I also did this tag) very soon. For me I opened my YouTube account in 2006 but didn’t upload my first video until the beginning of 2008. I didn’t upload any new videos for over a year but in 2010 I uploaded videos of me doing things such as going out with my friends who I lived with at the time. Towards the end of 2016 I decided to take my channel more seriously by uploading my first proper series of holiday vlogs from the Isle of Wight as well as fun tag videos for example. Since I made that decision I received more subscribers and overall positive feedback on my videos.
