I don’t usually do fashion posts. I guess it’s an area where I feel a little out of my comfort zone if I’m being honest, but when Simply Be approached me recently asking if I’d like to review some of their clothes, it seemed like too much of a good opportunity to say no….
Simply Be … having a date night
I wore this dress on a date night recently and felt so comfortable in it. I haven’t worn too many maxi dresses in my time, and when I have they’ve always been super casual, beachy-type dresses, so it’s really nice to find a longer dress that is smart enough to get away with wearing in the evening for a date night.
I love the simple straps and gold foil spots and felt actually pretty chic in it (although it is very sheer and thin so probably best left for a spring/summer date night rather than freezing January…)
I teamed the dress with my Topshop leather jacket, burgundy heels and a matching clutch, and am looking forward to styling it up with other jackets and accessories come the Summer. You can shop it here .
Simply Be…time for tea (or cocktails)
When it comes to afternoon tea with girls, or a cocktail or two, I think a midi skirt is always a good idea. This is actually one of the first midi skirts I’ve ever worn, and I don’t know whether it’s got anything to with the fact that I am now that age which begins with a three and ends in a zero, but I find this length of skirt so much more comfortable and flattering for my body shape compared to a shorter skirt.
I feel like it’s a pretty versatile option too, and could be worn with heels, flats or even trainers (I’m not edgy enough to attempt that), and would look good thanks to the flattering pleats and monochrome style.
I have this hunch that the skirt will be one of those items which I thought I wouldn’t get much wear out of at all, and yet will possibly be one of my most-worn items this year and beyond.
(Oh and it’s got an elasticated waist by the way so also PERFECT for an indulgent meal or two…)
Simply….being a mum
The final outfit of this collection from Simply Be is definitely the easiest to wear from a personal perspective (and again it comes up trumps for comfort). The classic denim shirt is something which is perfect for a day at the park with the kids. Chuck it on with some black skinnies and converse and you’re good to go.
I love the vintage look of this shirt, plus it’s a nice longer length and is super soft too. Happy days.
